I am excited to announce my very first blog giveaway! And it is a double giveaway as a sign of my appreciation for my readers.
One lucky winner will receive the cookbook Cookies & Bars and a box of Hazelnut Biscotti containing six cookies.
Biscotti (meaning "twice-baked") is a traditional Italian dipping cookie perfect for breakfast or with your coffee or with ice-cream. You can also dip them in wine or chocolate like the Italians do.
The winner of this contest will get a box of traditional Hazelnut Biscotti made by Coffaro's bakery. There is a total of 6 individually wrapped biscotti in a box.
The book Cookies & Bars is filled with error-proof recipes, including chocolate cookies, fruity bites, and nut-based morsels. There is also a chapter on exotic cookies you may want to make for special occasions. All of the recipes are presented with detailed instructions and pictures.

ReplyDeleteA topic I like to see and don't see very often, are recipes for 2. I'm single and don't really need to make everything in full batches. Yes, I can cut them down. But it would be easier to just have recipes for 2. I used to get a magazine, but they discontinued it. It was my favorite. They were shorter recipes and quick and easy for a single working gal.
ReplyDeleteI also put a note about your giveaway on my FB page. http://www.facebook.com/findingcharm?ref=ts
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great giveaway because it asks for something different than all the others and it's a supportive topic. I like the helping each other giveaways. Good luck!
Thank for your feedback! I will work on some recipes for 2!
ReplyDeleteSarah, please remember to send your e-mail to anaschronicles@aol.com so I can compute your entries.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for the support!

With 174 followers in Google, don't think you need any advice! As for the layout, I think it would be easier to read if it were wider, just my opinion. You have lots of great recipes and I'm wondering why you haven't joined any food communities. Also, allowing the name/url in comments I think is a must.
ReplyDeleteThanks for offering this giveaway!
redkathy, Thank you for your feedback. You have a great blog!
ReplyDeleteYour layout is very clean and nice looking. I am eager to try some of your recipes! The photos are a plus, too!
ReplyDeleteI left a comment on your recipe collection. adutt at yahoo
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that yur recipes are ones that are not over the top and that the ingredients are ones that can usually be found in the kitchen pantry already or are easy enough to obtain.

I like the idea of quick 30 minute meal ideas! your blog is great...I agree with redkathy, you are doing well on your own. I do think two or three column would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo I am following you here and on network blogs, and on facebook and twitter!
Take care

dhall@zurdesigns.net (just in case I win the book and biscotti!! hehe)
I'm new to your blog and so far I really enjoy reading through your well thought out recipes. Good photos and instructions. You are on the right track...keep it up ;-)
ReplyDeleteok..I have a Biscotti story for you...a friend once mailed my M-in-law a large tin of multiple varieties of biscotti. She had never had Biscotti before and she thought they were cookies that had gotten stale...she fed them all to the birds!!!! I love Biscotti and bake them every Christmas!
I would agree that you are doing very nicely. You mentioned the Networked Blogs link being in the right sidebar, but for me it appears on the left side. I really do like the blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm also offering a Giveaway! Ends tonight, Thursday. Easy to enter. http://cookingatcafed.blogspot.com/2010/02/giveaway-last-day.html
Just came across your blog, so I can't really give many suggestions yet. I would suggest finding a brighter, more eye-catching blog background, though. There are so many really cute ( and free!) backgrounds out there, I always have a hard time choosing which to use!
ReplyDeleteFollowing!

Janet, your biscotti story is soooo funny! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the feedback! I will visit your blog tomorrow to get another amazing pie recipe!
DanaMc, you are right, the Networked Blogs link is in the left sidebar. This information has been corrected.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Ana
Maria D,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your support! I am following your giveaway listing blog.
Good luck!
Janet, I am still thinking of very happy birds eating biscotti (what a royal treatment!)
ReplyDeleteHi Janet, The only thing I'd do for maximum impact would be to change the settings on the blog page so that there's no browny edge so you can make the main section wider / bigger for more impact. Same with the photos, I'd make them bigger.
ReplyDeletePlease count me in on your giveaway, and thanks for joining new Facebook Group

I always appreciate seeing recipes for vegetarians that non-vegetarians would also enjoy eating. I have one vegetarian in my home and would love to be able to make one meal for everyone instead of one for her and one for everyone else.

i have become a fan of yours on facebook and following you - thanks for following me! also I will tweet this.
ReplyDeletetrying to figure out how to network blog you too - will look into that - haven't come across it!
I love your behind the scenes information about the biscotti - I never knew what it meant and you can tell that you know a lot about food. Also it takes me to Italy in the way you write about it and that is good - i believe that food should be a 3d experience - when you taste the food it takes you on that journey to that country or some other place!
One of my favourite not so guilty deserts is greek yoghurt, honey and fresh fruit with raspberries and blueberries. divine!
Also, I tried boquerones (fresh anchovies and completely different from the marinated ones) with olive oil, crusted sea salt and a few shavings of orange peel - not exactly economical but absolutely delicious! it is spanish and is a popular spanish tapas. I do not know if you like fish but also canelones (pancakes filled with tender and succulent crab meat - with a melted manchego cheese) - to die for! I was in heaven!! Hope that tickles your taste buds and then try the real thing!
Hi Ana,
ReplyDeleteGreat name! My name is Anna too. :] I like the idea of your blog and of this giveaway.
Breakfast is often a neglected meal, so I think some quick and nutritious breakfast recipes/meal ideas would be great. Another interesting topic could be recipes with 5 ingredients or less. You could even combine the two ideas: healthy breakfast meals with 5 ingredients or less!
I also commented on another one of your posts and am following your blog. :]
ReplyDeletei have also promoted your blog on my facebook page!:)
ReplyDeleteI like your blog, I am probably not the best person to critique another persons blog, becuase I am always worrying about my own. But I think yours is really cute. Thanks for letting me know about your giveaway on Etsy.
ReplyDeleteI am folowing you now, too!!
ReplyDeleteMike and Shan, thank you for following my blog! I appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteI like your blog. The only suggestion I have is to widen this column and eliminate or downsize the brown right and left border.
ReplyDeleteSince you like to do recipes from across the globe, maybe you could list recipes according to cuisine too, and not just by appetizer/entree/etc. If you knew of recipes that went well together, you could possibly create sample menus for parties and such.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
e.estt[at]yahoo[dot]com
You have a great blog here, but the only thing I would suggest is to break down your recipes into either pages or categories.
ReplyDeleteMake it more user friendly instead of clicking on Recipes and scrolling down looking for certain recipes.
I agree with the previous post. It feels kind of "tight" here in the middle of your blog. I love all of the photos you use. It's a great blog. I wish I had known yesterday was Margarita Day! Maybe I'll go pour one tonight and celebrate a bit belated! Good luck with your giveaways!
ReplyDeleteThank you everybody the great feedback!
ReplyDeleteI left a comment on your tres leches post.
ReplyDeleteHi, I think I agree with other readers on the layout of your blog. The central panel is a bit too narrow. With widescreen LCD monitors now, readers would like to be able to see the screen filled up. Also, that means bigger words, nicer pics and good for the eyes :-). Also, I feel the colour brown at the sides seem to cast a shadow on your whole blog. Kinda darkens the whole thing so that the pics don't really stand out as they should. Perhaps blogspot isn't the best host, I spose.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, I'd also love to see some drop-down listings to make finding for older posts easier as I notice you have loads of great recipes here!
You could do a seasonal sorta theme. Summer Winter Autumn Spring. Though everyone seems to be doing that. Maybe a theme a week, use a certain type of meat or ingredient and feature that for a week? Might get interesting. Or even a certain colour. Like yellow ingredients this week, red next etc. It can get very very exciting!
:-) Hope this helps!
Thank you for recipes! It is so helpful to find simple, clear recipes to use especially for someone like me who has not been cooking for very long!
ReplyDeleteHi Ana, Your blog looks awesome! My only suggestion....consider adding an image along with the blog name, or a logo as a header. Best wishes...
ReplyDeleteyummy giveaway! I like your blog...it is simple and very easy to navigate. the only thing i would change is maybe move the "about me" widget up to the very top of the page. it would look nice as an intro to your page.

I love your blog! It makes me so hungry! but also it inspires me to get in the kitchen:)
ReplyDeleteIm also a google follower :)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, especially the giveaway ;) that stationary binder parts are a little distracting but the neutral colours are soft on the eyes!
